"OCEAN GIANTS OF PORTUGAL"
Oceanic® is creating art to promote ocean awareness and has today published 5000 copies of the new poster "OCEANIC GIANTS OF PORTUGAL" in 60 x 86.5 cm format for distribution free-of-charge to 4800 public schools throughout Portugal (mainly for youngsters age 10-17). The posters feature excellent quality illustrations of our large ocean species accompanied with intriguing data on max. size. max. age and max. depth.
Many of the animals live beyond 100 years, can be up to 27m in length and dive to depths of more than 1km. Youths love to study and compare the high quality images whilst memorising the associated data. Familiarity with the animals and visualisation at a young age help encourage receptiveness toward further studies of the species and their remote open ocean habitats. The new poster is intended to encourage ocean literacy amongst an entire generation of youngsters in Portugal.
The distribution of the poster "OCEANIC GIANTS OF PORTUGAL" to schools throughout the country is currently underway and is being made in partnership with the Ministry of the Sea, through the Mission Structure for the Commemorations of the 5th Centennial of the Circum-Navigation commanded by Fernão de Magalhães.

“GIGANTES OCEÂNICOS DE PORTUGAL"
Com esta iniciativa o Oceanic® promove, através da ilustração e do desenho cientifico, a consciência dos oceanos, publicou hoje 5000 exemplares do novo poster dos GIGANTES OCEÂNICOS DE PORTUGAL em formato 60 x 86,5 cm, que será distribuído gratuitamente em todas as escolas públicas de Portugal (para jovens dos 10 aos 17 anos).
Os pósteres apresentam ilustrações de excelente qualidade, onde destacamos curiosidades como o tamanho máximos e longevidade das espécies, bem como informação curiosa relativa à profundidade máxima a que mergulham. Muitos dos animais vivem mais de 100 anos, podem ter até 27m de comprimento e mergulhar a profundidades de mais de 1,000 m. Os jovens adoram estudar e comparar as imagens de alta qualidade enquanto memorizam a informação. A familiaridade com os animais e a visualização precoce ajudam na recetividade para estudos posteriores das espécies e seus habitats remotos em mar aberto.
Queremos encorajar a literacia dos oceanos numa geração de jovens portugueses.
A distribuição do poster Gigantes Oceânicos de Portugal pelas escolas do país resultou de uma parceria entre o Oceanic® e o Ministério do Mar, através da estrutura de Missão para as Comemorações do V Centenário da Circum-Navegação comandada por Fernão de Magalhães.
